Runcorn Autumn Head 2010

RUNCORN AUTUMN SMALL BOATS HEAD

This timetrial event took place on the River Weaver over two divisions, using the usual 4500m long and 2250m short courses. Crews from all over the North West boated from Runcorn's Boat House, rowed upstream to the course start, then under race conditions set off individually racing downstream against the clock and against opponents within the same boat category. The racing proved to be a grand spectacle, set against the beautiful backdrop of the lower reaches of the Weaver Navigation bathed in glorious sunshine. It's success was owed to the support of a huge gang of volunteers running everything efficiently from landing stage co-ordination right through to the refreshment facilities at the end. Andy Greenwell, Race Committee Co-ordinator enthusiastically said " it was a fantastic day, my thanks goes to all the volunteers who helped achieve the goal of getting the races to start on time in both divisions and in providing great hospitality for good day out for all our visiting crews" He added " We look forward to clubs attending our Runcorn Eights Head on Saturday 12 March 2011"
